Britain, much like its Yank sidekick, is a Nation divided by political ideals. Business and the Media are fixed at the core of the debate. The Daily Mail, whose backing comes mostly from the middle classes, or as we like to refer to them, as a whole, here in England, “Middle England”. They’re the types that enjoy a relaxing weekend, in the garden reading the latest crime novel, while their black Labrador plays Frisbee with the young Ollie. Or you’d expect to find them at 10am, bright and breezy, fully loaded with a dose of the Holy Spirit, leaving their church and heading straight for the chocolate biscuits, custard creams and cups of bottomless tea, courteously supplied by the local parish, every Sunday.  Nevertheless,  do not be fooled by this spirited nature, that is as finely displayed as the china, that purposely sits, in their over polished mahogany cabinets.

Religions that teach brotherly love have been used as an excuse for persecution, and our profoundest scientific insight is made into a means of mass destruction, man.

Bertrand Russell

Middle England is a brutal place. Almost all crack heads and homeless people come from Middle England, the older types are all anti-gay, anti-drugs, anti-sex, anti-black and anti-fun! The youth escape and become Guardian reading, tree hugging hippies, due to all the avoidance of hugs, they have gained from a father, massively obsessed with being better than his so called best friend, at Golf. Anything and everything is game, including each of their wives. Yes the world of the middle classes is one of complete fucked up-ness. Cats and dogs are forced to live together! You may be thinking by now as you read this, that the divide I was referring to in the first sentence, must be that of the working and middle classes?! Or that of the right and the left?! well, if that is what you’re thinking, you’re very wrong, on both accounts, actually I refer to a divide that has split our great Britannia in two, this happened over 370 years ago, and the issue still resonates today.

I had rather have a plain, russet-coated Captain, that knows what he fights for, and loves what he knows, than that which you call a Gentle-man and is nothing else.
Oliver Cromwell

Kingdom or Republic? Potato or tomato? Stones or the Beatles? To be fair it’s not quite as simple as that. I have a great many friends, most of which will agree with me on almost all subjects, is there a God? Pro life, or pro death? This rule is evident, except with the Royals. I am, purely by definition, a left wing thinker (remove the Thi and add a Wa) I am pro life, An agnostic, I am against war and I love to recycle. However, I also love the Royal Family. In Great Britain, it is often considered that only the right love the Royals. The left hate them and want rid! There are of course many reasons for this, however certainly the most obvious, is that of the abundance of wealth, and land ownership that they have. combine this with how much the Royals cost, and you’ll certainly get every hippies back up! no matter what side of the golden Royal fence you sit, The Crown Estate pays an £150m annual surplus into the treasury. That’s more in a month than an entire family will pay in taxes for a lifetime! The Queen serves us in Britain and the commonwealth as The Head of State, which is a necessary post, that would have to be taken by a politician, if the monarchy were to be abolished. This politician would perform the same duties as the Queen, and would receive the same allowance to pay for the same official head of state expenditures. They do not “take our money” any more than an elected head of state would, plus if you think about it, an elected head of state would incur additional costs, such as elections and the swapping of staff members.  Perhaps to me, the most important element, is that a president would affect one of the biggest most powerful parts of national identity, The royal family, like them or not gives us this, and they have done for generations.

There is a forgotten, nay almost forbidden word, which means more to me than any other. That word is England.  Sir Winston Churchill

National pride has become a taboo. this is due to how multi cultural we have become and left wing views, have somehow been obscured in to having pride as a nation is similar to that of Natiz pride. I for one, when travelling aboard especially when visiting the United States, take much pride in being an Englishmen. People treat you which such fascination, our country to them appears magical. A land of Kings and Queens princes and princess, a land where gentleman and ladies dance with one another in a well spoken clear upper-class superior way. If we loose the Royal Family we shall also loose this. I for one don’t ever wish to let go of my James Bond persona. For President and Country doesn’t quite have the same ring to it as…. For Queen and Country.
